Field Safety Guidelines

1. MEMBERSHIP– need to be current with Club and AMA dues. Starting in 2016, need to have an FAA ID affixed to the outside of each model. Starting in 2021,need to complete the TRUST knowledge course available on the AMA website.
2. RADIO EQUIPMENT– Flyers using FM equipment must not turn on their transmitter without the frequency tag in their possession.
3. NEW MEMBERS– must be certified by a club instructor as to their flying ability and equipment safety readiness.
4. PETS – All pets must be restrained when other members are present.
5. PIT AREA– Taxiing from the pit area directly to the runway prior to flight will be limited only to models too awkward to carry. No taxiing from the runway into the pit area.
6. FLYING MODELS– no more than three (3) models flying at one time. Pilots need to be in proximity of the three flight stations, announce take off and landings and fly in the same direction as other aircraft are currently flying. When float flying from the pond, it is the responsibility of the pilot to announce his intentions and to mark one of the flight stations with the orange traffic cone that is stored under the shed.
7. FLYING HOURS– Nitro and gas models may be flown from 9:00AM to sunset. Electric models from sunrise to one hour after sunset. When night flying, adherence to the AMA Safety Code is mandatory.
8. FLYING ALONE – For your safety, we recommend that you fly with another individual when possible.
9. GUEST MEMBERS– Guests who are current AMA members are limited to three (3) visits per calendar year. Guest members need to be escorted by a club member.
10. FULL SCALE AIRCRAFT– Immediately yield the right of way to full scale aircraft.
11. PROHIBITION OF FLYING– any member or guest who, in the opinion of a majority of club members present, is not capable of the safe operation of their aircraft, will be temporarily restricted from flying. Upon notifying the Club President by the member who restricted said individual, the President will review with the Club officers what steps would be necessary to resolve the issue.
12. HOVERING– Hovering helicopters, quadcopters, multicopters and airplanes low to the ground when other aircraft are in the air, should be done on the opposite side of the runway away from the pit area.
13. HELICOPTERS/MULTICOPTERS – The grass area at the southwest end of the small pond is designated for Helicopters/Multicopters for hovering only. There will be no flying beyond the small pond water edge nearest to the pit area. Float planes are restricted from flying from the small pond when Helicopters/Multicopters are occupying that area.
14. EAST END OF THE RUNWAY – Aircraft are to fly not more than 300 feet (preferably less) beyond the east end of the runway.
15. FLIGHT DURATION – When the field is busy with other members waiting to fly, try to limit your flight time to ten (10) minutes.

All MEMBERS SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH THE AMA NATIONAL MODEL AIRCRAFT SAFETY CODE
